Charles Ringma was born in Hengelo, The Netherlands, and immigrated with his family to Australia as a 10 year old in 1952.
Growing up in Brisbane he originally trained in the printing and publishing industry. In 1967 he completed his theological training and established the first Australian Teen Challenge program in Brisbane in 1971.
An honorary professor at The University of Queensland, Brisbane, he is also Emeritus Professor Regent College, Vancouver, Canada and former Theology and Research Professor at Asian Theological Seminary, Metro Manila, Philippines.
His first book was published in 1991 and in 1995 he was joint winner of the Australian Christian Book of the Year Award.
He has produced more than twenty-five books of which some are edited and several of his writings have enjoyed more than five editions and others have been translated into Chinese, French, Swedish, Norwegian, Japanese, Indonesian and Korean.
Ringma's books have a global following.
He continues to write in Brisbane, Australia where he lives.
